My damn sister has a blog

Who knew?

You should probably check it out, because she is much cooler than I am and well, we know how lame my posts have gotten of late.

Praise God for the breeze

Because I am officially shooting it now.

It has been so damn hot here lately.  And by some miracle of miracles it is cool, breezy and not suffocatingly humid tonight.

Windows open, commence enjoying life.

Now can I interest you in some pictures of food?

Our bellies have been stuffed and satisfied all week.  We have had more salad than we can shake a stick at.  And we have been trying to shake sticks at everything.

More paella, this time not salty.

Cheesecake using the eggs and sheep yogurt.  My first time making cheesecake.  Turned out quite well.

Butter Lettuce Wraps with a mango, carrot, red pepper slaw.  Topped with kelp noodles and a peanut miso paste.  Served with a tamarind peach dipping sauce.  I also used mint and basil and chives from the window garden in this.

And last night, we made a delicious Eggplant Parm.  I made the bread crumbs with a Sour Rye from the co-op.  It was delicious.

CSA and Compost #4

This CSA is so amazing.  It has really been a treat to have good fresh produce

This week we got Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Onions, Eggplant, Bell Pepper, Tomatoes, Butter Lettuce, Salad Mix, Bok Choy, Cabbage and Sun Flowers.  We placed an order with the farm for some Smoked Bacon(for Matt), Sheep Yogurt, Farmers Cheese, Raw Honey, Small Eggs and Flour(not pictured because I forgot to bring it home from the market and had to go pick it up later and now am too lazy to take a picture of it.)

I've already made some pretty delicious stuff.  I will post more later.

Our compost this week was only about 13lbs.  I finally got a scale.

Worst Blogger Ever

Can I get an award for that?

Sorry I have been incredibly absent, but I just happen to be incredibly lazy...so...

Yeah.

Our last CSA share was super cool and full of yummy food.  With that food we made a super delicious batch of Beet Risotto and a way too salty Kale and Zucchini Paella.  Oops!  That would be my bad.
Oh, and I forgot to take a pic of the risotto until it was almost gone... Sorry, it was just so delicious.

We also made a Strawberry Rhubarb Apple Crisp.

While we were in Idaho I helped my sister harvest about half of her rhubarb plant.  She has sooo much rhubarb.  It is insane.  We ended up harvesting close to 25lbs, and I took 5 of those back to NY with me.  It is delicious.

We also made rhubarb tea.  I have mixed feelings about the tea.

Risotto Recipe was taken from Epicurious:

We didn't have mustard greens so I just left them out.
